As the summer sunshine wanes into shorter (and cooler) autumn days, it’s not uncommon to develop a hankering for a little added warmth to your favourite fall beverages. And if that hankering leads you down the path of a little nip of whiskey, you’re going to enjoy the rest of this post.
We’re entering pumpkin spiced latte season, but we’ve got our own take to share with you that’ll beat anything you could possibly pick up at your local over-priced pumpkin spiced latte place – homemade Irish Whiskey Cream included.
We’ve concocted a Hot’n’Creamy Spiced and Steamy cocktail that are sure to start taking that chill out of your air from the inside out. This drink incorporates homemade Irish Whiskey Cream, our signature Barista & Bartender Winterspice cocktail syrup, chocolate from our Barista & Bartender house made chocolate sauce and a bit of steamed milk.
Making your Irish Whiskey Cream
This sounds like it would be more complicated than it actually is. But don’t worry, it’s pretty straight forward. Just reminder to keep the whiskey drinking for post-blending. Just to be on the safe side.
What You’ll Need:
1 cup of cream, 1 can of sweetened condensed milk (the kind Grandma used to use in her coffee), at least 1 cup of your favourite Irish whiskey (in our home bar, Jameson’s does just dandily. Add up to 1.5 cups depending on how strong you like your Irish Cream), a couple of tablespoons of instant coffee, 1/2 tsp of pure almond extract, 1 tsp of vanilla extract (love the madagascar vanilla extra from Latte Art Love),.
Place it all in a blender together or use a hand held mixer and blend away!
Now, We Cocktail:
The Hot’n’Creamy Spiced and Steamy
4 1/2 oz of hot chocolate
1 1/2 oz of Irish Whiskey Cream
1 oz of Winterspice Syrup
Combine the above ingredients into your favourite mug. Stir well.
Steam up some milk and top with foam and a dash of cinnamon or drizzle of chocolate sauce.
