You’d be hard pressed to find a cocktail connoisseur who doesn’t love the Negroni. Equal parts gin, Campari and sweet vermouth, there’s a lot to entice your tastebuds coming out of one little glass.
The Negroni also makes experimentation relatively simple. Whether you’re a seasoned drink mixer or a beginner, swapping out one ingredient for another allows us to play with different flavour combinations by following the same ratios and swapping out spirit for spirit or sweet for sweet. Why not bitter for bitter? Well, really, can you call it a Negroni without Campari? I don’t think so. I enjoy replacing the sweet vermouth with St-Germain Elderflower liqueur. Sweet for sweet.
Between June 1-7, 2015, bars all over the world will be participating in Negroni Week. For every Negroni sold, a portion of the proceeds will go to a charity of said bar’s choice. Wherever you’ll be on the globe that week, find a participating bar and have a drink for a good cause!
To date, in Canada, there are 82 participating locations.
