My fellow lovers of craft spirits and cocktails,  there is a new craft spirits and cocktail festival coming to two mountain towns near you that you must know about.

Beginning on Wednesday, January 16 through to Sunday, January 27, the Tribute To Craft Spirits Festival will run in Banff and in Lake Louise as a part of Banff Snow Days.

It’s your chance to try out one (or two… or three if we’re being honest) inventive cocktails made with a spirit from a Western Canadian distillery at one of 17 participating restaurants and bars.

If you’d like an even bigger bang for your afternoon, head on out to Banff as the festival culminates in one final celebration on Saturday January 26 and Sunday January 27 between 2-8 pm amongst the Snow Days Ice Sculptures in the downtown. Admission is free and you’ll have the opportunity to try out cocktails and food from 9 restaurants all in one place. Bring some cash to cover your tasting tickets, these are $1.00 each (although I’m not certain how many tickets each taste will cost).

Participating Distilleries include:

Alberta:

  • Burwood Distillery (Calgary)
    • (Fun fact: They’re located just off Edmonton Trail and their tasting room showcases furniture from the 3rd season of Fargo. Care to see the feature? It’s on Netflix. The first appearance is episode 1 around the 46th minute. Press pause and see if you can spot the Burwood bottle on the liquor shelf. The main event, you’ll need to fast forward through to episode 8 called “Who Rules The Land of Denial?”. The bottle is unmistakable around minute 41!).
  • Eau Claire Distillery (Turner Valler and Alberta’s first crafty distillery)
  • Park Distillery (Banff)
  • RAW Distillery (Canmore)
  • Wild Life Distillery (Canmore)

British Columbia:
